Since its founding in 2012, the Urban Network has worked to connect and promote the work of urban scholars across the university. Starting today, this work will continue under the name of UChicago Urban, a Provost-level initiative to bridge the university’s urban scholarship, practice and engagement.
As UChicago Urban, we will continue to support our existing programs, including the Urban Network Doctoral Fellows, the Urban Workshop, the Urban Research Review, and our range of grants and cosponsorship opportunities. Anne Dodge will continue to be the staff contact for these and other initiatives; you can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our hope is that the UChicago Urban initiative will help provide enhanced visibility for UChicago’s urban-related work around three main areas: (1) urban scholarship and education (2) urban practice and impact (3) local and global engagement. UChicago Urban will give us the visibility, resources, and connections to present the university as a unified, yet diverse urban research destination, both here in Chicago and around the world. We’ll be able to bring new, curious, interdisciplinary audiences to your research and projects; we’ll also be able to help you find and build partnerships on campus and beyond, to extend the reach of your own initiatives.
